What does it cost to foster a pet?
Fostering is FREE!
Rescues do their best to provide all the things a foster home needs.
All veterinary care is paid by the fostering organization. They will also generally provide crates, leashes, collars, feeding bowls, etc.
In some cases, the organization also provides food and litter. Of course, being that they are non-profit organizations, it is always appreciated when a foster home can provide things like food and litter themselves, but don’t be afraid to ask if you need the rescue to provide it!
Also, any items that you provide during the course of being a foster home is most likely tax deductible if you are working with a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue. There is a great article about writing off foster expenses here.
